A Brief, Incomplete Overview of Empty Poison's Creation
Empty Poison started out as an idea that almost seemed to will itself into existence. While I am at a loss to pinpoint exactly what inspired it, EP took form in my mind as a chaotic mess of characters and scenarios that began to snowball, overtaking and absorbing all other ideas as it gained momentum and solidified. Every waking moment the story dominated my thoughts until it felt as if my skull would burst, and in a fit of either creative energy (or possession) I poured everything into a patchwork file of rough sketches and scripts. When I finished, Michelle and I were instantly seized by the desire to do something interesting with the oddly named "Empty Poison".
However, because we are both perfectionists rarely satisfied with our work, Empty Poison experienced many renovations, revisions, and reincarnations before it ever actually saw the internet. While the overall ideas and characters have remained the same, the presentation and story have varied greatly. In one of the earliest attempts, for example, Michelle and I were both co-writers and co-artists, each trying to juggle and influence all aspects of the comic. However, just as animals adapt to their environment we each grew to fill the niche we preferred, and by our second attempt we had already agreed that I would grapple with the script while she handled the artwork. Now, with Michelle doing an excellent job with the artwork and myself wrapped up in the script, we have made it our goal to hone our respective skills and improve the quality of the EP over time.
Since Empty Poison has just gotten off of the ground I'll resist the urge to explain away the characters and plotline until everyone has had more time to get acquainted with the comic. But, as the Empty Poison progresses, I will be adding updates to this section so be sure to check it often! Even though we are just starting, I hope that you enjoy reading it as much as we enjoy producing it.
